Q. How can your products be so much lower in
price than most Hearing Aids?
Each Sound Device
(SD) is a "one-size-fits-most" item and each unit is
identical. The components are purchased in large quantities
and custom fitting is not required, making it possible for us
to sell them at very low price-points.
Q. How can people with
varying degrees of hearing loss all wear the same hearing
device?
Each Sound Device in the
EarWear line is designed to amplify all sounds in the normal
speech frequency range where most people (about 80%) who
suffer from mild to moderate hearing loss have difficulty. The
difference between the three SD products is the amount of gain
provided, unit size and the type of electronic circuitry used.
The entire Sound Device line is NOT designed to help severe
hearing loss.
Q. How can one size fit all?
We designed the size and shape of each Sound
Device in such a way that it fits most people. Also, each
Sound Device features a system to "customize" the fit to your
ear canal. The SD001, the SD002 and SD003 have a soft flexible
shell that adapts to your ear for comfort and fit. We also
provide Comfort Wraps that are specificaly designed to enhance
fit should you need it. If the fit is not satisfactory you may
return the product within 30 days from the day you receive
your Sound Device for a full refund less the shipping and
handling.
Q. How can a Sound Device be purchased
without a prescription?
Prescriptions are not required for any listening device. When
people buy from audiologists, the "prescribed" hearing aids
are designed to enhance certain frequencies depending on the
results of hearing tests. Also, the hearing aids are custom
fitted for each individual. The hearing aid they receive has
been tailored to their specific hearing problem and custom fit
to their ear. We encourage everyone to have a medical
examination by a licensed physician (preferable a physician
who specializes in diseases of the ear known as an ENT or Ear,
Nose, and Throat Doctor) before purchasing a hearing device
from us or anybody else.
Q. How long does it take to learn how to use
a Sound Device?
Many of our
customers get used to wearing a Sound Device in just a few
hours or days while others may take up to a couple of weeks.
Initially we recommend that the user wear it for short periods
of time in environments where they want to make sounds louder.
You can determine if the Sound Device of your choice will work
to your satisfaction within the 30 day money back guarantee
period.
Q. Do
I need a Sound Device for both my ears?
Probably not, however listening and
understanding is better using both ears in most cases. Wearing
two prevents needing to turn one ear toward the source of
sound. With our low prices you might consider wearing one in
each ear or even having a spare unit.
Q. Can I purchase a
Sound Device for my child?
No, our
products are not appropriate for anyone 18 years old or
younger. If your child has any type of hearing loss, consult
with your doctor.
Q. Will it cure ringing in the ears?
Our products will NOT
cure ringing in the ears.
Q. What type of batteries are needed for the
SD001, SD002, SD003 and where can I find them and how much do
they cost?
The SD001 and SD003 use
SIZE 10 Hearing Aid batteries. The SD002 uses SIZE 312 Hearing
Aid Batteries. These batteries are made by Rayovac, Renata,
Energizer and many others). They can be purchased at any
Walmart, Kmart, CVS, Walgreens and most drug stores. The cost
is usually around 4-6 US dollars for a pack of 4 batteries.
Usually with these types of batteries, each battery is good
for about 2 weeks of usage and has a shelf life of 2 years.
Q. How much is
Shipping and Handling?

handling and processing for the SD001 costs $19.95. The SD002
and SD003 cost $19.95. The charge for the SD Open Ear is
$24.95. EarWear,LLC ships to all 50 states and any
